Ventilation systems play a crucial role in controlling indoor air quality in buildings. In addition to dust accumulation, air ducts can also serve as a reservoir for microbiological contaminants such as bacteria, mould and yeasts. To evaluate this microbiological load, surface sampling via microbiological swabs is often used.

In the world of ventilation hygiene, a dangerous assumption exists: if you cannot see the dirt, it is not there. In reality, the most high-risk zones of a ventilation network — the dampers, bends and silencers — are often located in "black boxes" that were never designed to be accessible.

Within the specialised field of ventilation hygiene services, "clean" is a measurable quantity, not a subjective opinion. For facility managers and engineers, ensuring the hygiene of air handling units (AHUs), process extraction systems and general air ducts requires an approach that goes beyond regular maintenance and enters the domain of cleaning science.

A clean ventilation installation is no coincidence. It requires insight, craftsmanship and follow-up. That is why we work according to the 95G Method: a well-considered approach in which we map everything out and carry out certified cleaning with a minimum 95% result.

The Genk-based air duct cleaning company Hamster Cleaning acquires InsightAir from Olen and adds the developer of air quality monitors to the overarching Hamster group. "An integration that will offer great added value for both parties," says managing director Seppe Thys.

From July 2025, the new European standard EN 15780:2025 comes into effect. This introduces important technical changes that directly affect the cleaning and maintenance of ventilation.

We are proud to share that all branches of Hamster Cleaning — in Belgium, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Germany and France — are now officially ISO 9001 certified!

Managing Director of Hamster Cleaning has been re-elected as President of the European Ventilation Hygiene Association (EVHA).
